Amber Teething Necklaces: The Holy Grail of Medicine

Amber Teething Necklaces: The Holy Grail of Medicine

My seven-month-old started teething last month and had become a completely different baby. I’m wasn’t sure I even knew who she was anymore! She started waking up in the middle of the night and was inconsolable. I had noticed one morning when I walked in to grab her that she had been chewing on the side of her crib. That’s when I had my ah-ha moment!

She was my first born and I wasn’t sure what teething would be like. Nothing worked, though. I read mom blog after mom blog, asked questions on forums about what worked for others, and nada, zilch, nothing. Of course, my child would be immune to every possible suggestion out there. After all, my pregnancy with her had been the same way.

What Is the Answer?

My answer came one day at the grocery store when I had given up and concluded that we would just hunker down for the next few months and rotate failed suggestions, hoping we would find a winning combination. This mom was standing in front of me with a baby who was a few months older than mine and he was wearing an amber colored beaded necklace. I had seen a few babies around town wearing these and wondered what all the hype was about. Was there any reason they were putting necklaces on their infants? Did I miss a mom memo?

Feeling out of the loop, I asked the mother in front of me what kind of necklace her son was wearing. “An Amber Teething Necklace from Baltic Wonder!”, she answered. I was interested. How had I never heard of this during my hunt for teething remedies? I took my inquiry to the internet.

What Are Amber Teething Necklaces?

Amber teething necklaces are made from the sap of conifer trees found in the Baltic region. The sap found in this region has the highest rate of succinic acid, ranging from 8-10%. Succinic acid is the component in amber that helps your teething infant. How does it work? Your babies body temperature heats the amber, pulling the oil that contains the succinic acid out, allowing your baby to absorb it through their bloodstream.

Don’t worry though! Succinic acid is a natural component found in foods and drinks that we consume every day, such as wine, dairy and yogurts, barley, and oysters. There are plenty of brands of amber teething necklaces out there, but because the Baltic region has amber with higher rates of succinic acid, it’s better to use Baltic Amber Teething necklaces for your baby. Other amber brands contain 4-6% of the oil, up to 6% less than the Baltic brand.

Why Is This Important?

Raw amber is too coarse, therefore harsh, for your baby’s skin. Raw amber allows for easier withdrawal of the oil, but because it irritates the sensitive skin of babies, you’ll need to find a polished necklace. There’s not much difference in the colors when it comes to healing properties, though, so don’t feel overwhelmed when you see the color range!

I’m sure you’re wondering if it worked for me and I’m happy to report that it did! It worked so well, in fact, that I bought one for myself! Did you know that amber has several benefits to it? In European and Asian countries, amber has been used for centuries. Amber has anti-inflammatory and mood stabilizing effects, but can also be used as an immune booster due to the antioxidants found in it. This is why Baltic Amber necklaces have become the holy grail product in my medicine cabinet. Look it up, ask questions, give it a try. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
