We know laws make what our country is built on! Laws keep us accountable for following how we live and survive as a people. There is one law if it comes into effect in 2021 is the ProAct. There is so much to explain when it comes to the ProAct, but the one that affects me and many others is the part about Independent Contractors.
The ProAct or the Protecting the Right to Organize Act would harm parents by making it harder to work as a freelance or independent contractor. Yes, your flexibility will be taken from you because you will be taken back to be a full-time worker. There is that job security but not the flexibility that all parents need when they decide to change their working position.
Covid-19 drastically changed many lives with the state of the disease itself, but the financial impact is so much work. For working families, they had to regroup when this pandemic hit because jobs and schools were closed. Families had no choice to adapt to the needs of their families for survival. Many parents that were laid off from jobs that were affected by the pandemic took to jobs where they would have to flexibility to make money, like Door Dash and Shipt for example.
When I heard about this law, I took a good look at what my life would look like with this law in effect but considered mostly how it is going to impact my family overall. I chose the freedom to be able to take freelance and Gig work because I can make extra money and it is on my own time.
My suggestion is you need to do your research to learn more about the ProAct. Here is a great link If you are looking for more information about the ProAct. You can stand with those who already are fighting to overturn this in Congress!
