More and more parents are turning their long commutes and dry cleaning bills to choose to work a job at home or on their own time. Being an independent contractor gives you the freedom to be free and not stuck to a desk from 9 to 5. There are more benefits than the nontraditional hours of being an independent contractor but more by living life first than enjoying work.
You get to choose your schedule. If your family’s needs need to be met you will be able to meet those demands when being a gig worker or an independent contractor. You can plan your day on your schedule and time. Living this way will allow you freedoms you would not have had during your regular workday.
You Are The Boss
Being an independent contractor gives you more independence, you gain more predictable control of your work. You are accountable for your work and your time. However, like The Boss, you would be responsible for your taxes, contracts, benefits, and vacations.
You can get Benefits
You do not need to work in a traditional office to get benefits as an Independent contractor. Did you know you can still get the benefits you want? Third-party companies can offer benefits packages, including life insurance, vision, dental, and health plans. Hiring yourself out as part of your own business, then your contracted hourly rate reflects the fact that you have to buy your benefits, and this gives you a chance to find your benefits program that fits your personal needs.
Speaking from experience working as an Independent contractor has given me the freedom to experience new types of jobs on my time and my schedule. It has made me become my boss while fulfilling what I wanted to do for myself and no one else. But these freedoms are being threatened with the introduction of the ProAct. Learn more on my last blog about what the ProAct is. But if you want to show your support for independent contractors everywhere, visit here to Flex Your Independence.
